The Firelands Coastal Tributaries Watershed Program is looking for energetic citizens, who want healthy creeks and streams, to serve our community as stream monitors.

Duties include taking grab samples, stream depth, and perform some basic chemistry in the Old Woman Creek and Pipe Creek Watersheds once a month. Training provided!! Need to provide own transportation.

Development of Volunteer Monitoring Program for Old Woman Creek and Pipe Creek (“Tribs Team” Stream Monitors)
Stream Monitor ~ Job Description 
Summary: Implement and shape the volunteer stream monitoring program.
Responsibilities: Perform stream monitoring and other activities when scheduled, according to established written protocols
Coordinate with fellow team members to schedule and perform monitoring activities
Follow inventory procedure for borrowing field kits
Use field kits and equipment properly while in the field
Deliver data sheets to the Team Leader in a timely fashion
Deliver grab samples to lab in a timely fashion
Report low supplies and missing or damaged equipment to the Team Leader
Attend required training sessions
Optional, additional duties include: Participate in advisory and other meetings
  Assist other teams in monitoring or other activities
  Perform other tasks related to the monitoring program
Training Provided: Training in monitoring program protocols and procedures, including use of all monitoring equipment and checkout procedures
  Updates on optional training provided by OEPA
  Feedback and assistance throughout the year
  Periodic refresher and supplemental trainings as needed or requested
Qualifications: Field monitors must have physical ability to do field work, which includes carrying equipment and traversing (sometimes rough ground) to sampling site
  All volunteers will need enthusiasm, flexibility, tolerance, and willingness to learn new things
  Provide own transportation
